If your researching the Demeritts and want more detailed branches
I would recommend using the Descendants of * Eli Demeritt
For a staring point I would use the Surname List or Index of Names under Eli Demeritt to look up your particular interest.

My goal to to research all Demeritts before 1900 and find their place in this tree. I think I'm about 80% complete. There are likely errors and gaps. Please e-mail me any errors and additions. I would greatly appreciate any help.

The early Demeritt family can be traced back to the immediate areas surrounding Madbury, New Hampshire (then known as a part of ancient Dover). This would include towns such as Strafford, Barrington, Durham, Lee, Northwood, Farmington, and Rochester - all towns in Strafford county. I recently visited the Strafford County Probate and made digital images of the five pages of Demeritts listed therein:

 

I am currently researching Eli Demeritt who is believed to have immigrated to the Dover, New Hampshire area about 1694. Click here for more detailed notes.

I have researched Isaac T. Demeritt (b. 1811-1886) and Isaac's wife, Tamson H. Montgomery (b. 1814-1898). They came from the Barrington/Straford, New Hampshire area.
